(NEW YORK) -- Russell Crowe is not dating his 22-year-old Les Misérables co-star, Samantha Barks.  

An Australian magazine had claimed that the pair was more than friends, but the 48-year-old Crowe tweeted Sunday, "@SamanthaBarks apparently we are an item according to Aussie magazines." The Australian actor added, "Sorry about that Sammi."

Barks, a British actress who played Éponine in the Oscar best picture nominee, also tweeted, "Rumours are hilarious and not true! #funnyoldworld :)"

Crowe also recently denied a report that he was dating Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia.  He tweeted, "I am not having an affair with nor am I dating Natalie Imbruglia. She has been a friend for years. No flirting, no whispers, total BULLS**T."

It was reported last October that Crowe and wife Danielle Spencer had separated after nine years of marriage.
