ROB
Born in Portland, ME, Rob grew up in North Conway, NH. He enjoys anything to do with music especially going to shows. Small shows, big shows, club shows, it don’t matta! He loves his parent’s home cooking, cereal, all seafood, eating olives out of the jar, Miller Lite, good wine, margarita’s, and Crown Royal. “Wow, I sound like I have a bit of a problem….. I also like chocolate milk!” He also likes hiking, skiing, and anything he finds funny that you find stupid. “When I’m not being productive with those hobbies or working, you might catch me at Amigo’s, The Big Easy, Foreplay, or The Port Hole in the summa if you wanna have a drink!”
Rob used to play sports, but after several freak accidents including a baseball between the eyes and a broken collarbone sustained while playing floor hockey, he's steered his way into radio. Radio has been a passion since Rob was about 10 years old, when he used to record himself in his bedroom practicing to be a dj. He has now been kickin’ it at CYY for 8 years now. You can catch him on the air weekdays from noon-6pm.
Rob’s generally a happy dude but when in a mood tends to go on tangents about the world in general and other random things that may piss him off… you know stuff like gas prices, Paris Hilton, George Bush, long ass winters, and his elderly neighbor. His favorite part of the day is Throwback Lunch Bunch, which you can catch at noon. Mainly because it gives him an excuse to play vintage alternative that you don’t hear much!! (OK, so it’s not all vintage.) “Hey, A Flock Of Seagulls and Tears For Fears WERE alternative at one time!” He also hosts the CYY Top 5 at 5 during the weekday cruise home. He has many accomplishments since he’s been employed at CYY. One of which is meeting Dave Grohl. “I met him back in 2000 when I started. He was the first rock star I met working at CYY and I’ve yet to top it! The dude is mad cool, got to meet him again in April.” Rob also got Joey Disco a job on the radio! “Not the easiest thing I’ve pulled off… what can I say, I felt bad for the kid and thought I could help mold him into a good jock however it’s yet to happen.” Rob goes on to say. “It’s all worth it though, the little guy shows his appreciation by cleaning my house once a week in this silly little apron that his grandmother gave him. He’s also always right there to fetch a cup of coffee.”
Rob has a wide variation of music he listens to...as long as it doesn't suck.
The Killers, Pink Floyd, Green Day, Sublime, R.E.M., Rancid, The Police, The Beatles, DMB, Lit, U2, Chronic Future, Tom Petty, Beastie Boys, Incubus, Chili Peppers, Cheap Trick, Bruce Springsteen, The Clash, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, Social Distortion, The Cure, Rise Against, STP, New Order, Pearl Jam, Mindless Self Indulgence, 311, Muse, The Ramones, Prince, Weezer, Talking Heads, Guster, Jimmy Eat World, Avenged Sevenfold, Kiss, Ben Kweller, Radiohead, The Cars, Billy Idol, System Of A Down and lots of silly 80s music... He also may get caught crankin the ol’ the 80s (hair) metal... “I grew up with GN'R, I think Appetite is my favorite record.” …Poison, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Cinderella, Def Leppard, Ratt etc..... Also likes most punk rock and anything Dave Grohl has been involved in. Ya, he’s slightly diverse. We don’t know why but he felt the need to mention “Saturday Night Fever is the best soundtrack ever and if it happens to come on at the right time, I’m not afraid to show a random crowd of people my appreciation by busting out some really bad white boy moves.” And lastly, all the rad local rock here in Maine!
